I LOVE Christmas time and all the fun and magical festivities and time with friends and family that come with it. We found out that Santa and the Coca-cola truck would be at one of our local Wal-Mart stores and took Jayden to see the truck and Santa. We unfortunately missed the Polar Bear that Jayden was excited to see, but it still turned out to be a fun little memory we shared together. Jayden LOVED Santa, and with being one of the few there, he got plenty of time with him. We also enjoyed seeing the Lights in downtown Ogden for the first time this year, but since it was a spur of the moment thing, I did not have our nice camera with us and we had to resort to Ben’s phone. Pics to come on my December Mobile Pictures Post though.
We have stayed close to one of our neighbors from back when we lived in Murray, and we try to do dinner every so often to catch up and have some time together. This was our Christmas candle-lit dinner get together with her. We made pot roast and potatoes in the crock pot since Ben was working Sundays at the time, and this Sunday was the Ward Choir Program that I ran as the director. It was a crazy day, but the meal made for a yummy and simple solution to the madness. I LOVE crock pot meals! We sure love that Shirleen of ours and any time we get to share with her!
Gift exchange time! Jayden was pretty excited as opening presents is his favorite thing! He loves it so much that he helps everyone else open theirs as well.
I was proud to finally make Shrileen a gift. She always makes us the most beautiful and amazing things for us. Tabel runners, napkins, scarfs, purses, blankets-you name it! Everyone asks me where I get them and I respond with “my amazing friend Shirleen”. :) She made me a cute wallet this year, and made Ben and Jayden matching pillow cases. The pillow cases were themed after a train t.v. show called “Chuggington”,that Jayden had just watched for the first time and fallen in love with this very week. I told you she is perfect when it comes to gift giving.
Shirleen was sweet and even spent a good amount of time playing trains with Jayden. He LOVED it! By the end of the night he was calling her “Grandma Shirleen”. Since we don’t get together as often as we would like, Jayden has always been a bit shy around her. Not this time! It was SO cute!
We made sugar cookies for Family Home Evening the week of Christmas so we could take some to our neighbors as well as take some to the traditional Ahlstrom Family Party at my Grandma Ahlstroms’s house the next day. We got all the dough and cookies baked on Monday, and then we had a blast decorating them with Cami for our play day before the big party the next day. Jayden was such a good little helper. We had fun and they turned out great!
We had quite a bit of fun with the dough…if you can’t tell. It worked great to make it easier to work with since it had chilled in the fridge for a few hours. Jayden was most excited about the snowman Ben made.
This is pretty typical. Even with a cup of his own right in front of him, he usually steals mine.
Jayden built this train track while Ben and I baked all the cookies-it took a while so it was nice that he played so good. He wanted me to take pictures of every little part of it. This was his “Harry Potter Track”. He built it to look like a Quidditch field. He did a pretty good job!
He then proceeded to put on Daddy’s socks and model them for the camera. He is such a ham!

The next day, Cami and I joined Jayden for our yummy French Dip lunch at his little table.

While Cami and I were busy letting our creative spirits soar with decorating cookies, Jayden let his own creative energy soar with re-arranging the entire house and all of the furniture. Ben came home with quite the obstacle course to get through. Ha ha!
It was sure fun to have some time with girl after two years without her. The big Ahlstrom Family Party is up next!
