Cute Little Jaydenisms: Year Four!

9/28/15-Jayden just strutted over to grab the sucker he has been working on eating for days (he likes to save things for as long as possible), proceeded to put it in his mouth and then pulled it out again creating a loud "pop" sound, then turned to me and in a very grown up voice asked, "So, what's the plan?" He cracks me up!

10/1/15-Lately Jayden has been gushing over how cute everything is. It is not rare to hear: "Oh my goodness Mom! Tristan is soooo cute!", "Mom! Look at this cute Halloween costume!", "Oh! Look at how cute this is Mom!" "Awe! Isn't that so cute, Mom?" "Your clothes are so cute Mom!"...pretty sure he is spending way too much time with me and is in desperate need of some boy time with some friends. Ha ha!

11/13/15-Jayden has been constantly asking about when the snow will be here. Not so he can build a snowman however, but so that he can shovel the driveway.

11/21/15-Jayden got talking about Santa this morning and he has come to the conclusion that Santa's hair fell off of his head and landed on his chin. Gotta love kiddos and their philosophies on life.
12/28/15-Jayden asks a MILLION questions a day! He is so smart and energetic and fun and definitely gives me a run for my money on a daily basis.

2/7/16-Jayden just informed me that he just likes my hair long like "Tangled's" (a.k.a. Rapunzel's) and not short like when it gets cut at the end of the movie, but its okay because he still loves me. (This was the day after I cut 10 inches off of my hair and he saw me for the first time with short hair).

2/14/16-Today at church, Jayden was scared and came and found us in tear's because he did not know his teachers (the Stake Primary Presidency took over so the adults could attend Ward Conference), so I offered to go in and sit with him for a bit. As we were walking out he turned to Ben and said, "but I just want her to come and not you Dad, because she is my favorite!"

4/28/16-I was talking to Jayden about how I was getting rid of Tristan's car seat because it is too old and will not still be good to save for a new baby. Then I asked him if he would like a new baby. He paused to think about it for a moment before responding with, "No, I just want to keep this baby (pointing to Tristan) because I love him very much!" I had to go on to explain that we would always have Tristan in our family, but we could have more babies too. He looked relieved and said that sounded good. He then asked if we were going to have a lot of boys if I have a lot of babies. I told him that we would just have to see who Heavenly Father wants to send to our family. PRECIOUS!!!

5/13/16-Jayden is marching around the house saying “Ladies and Benjamin!” over and over again. Ha ha ha!

6/22/16-Jayden ADORES his "baby"! He came down in tears this morning and said to me through broken up sobs, "I had a bad dream that my baby was gone and we could not find him anywhere." It took a good 15 minutes to calm him down and convince him that Tristan was here and that he was okay. So sad, but so precious at the same time! Tristan has been rubbing his back for the last while trying to love Jayden better like he always does when Jayden is sad. They love each other SO much!!! It melts my heart!

8/18/16-Jayden is SO smart and SO sweet, but he LOVES to push buttons and tease-especially his little brother and he can sure wear me out and give me a run for my money.

9/14/16-Caleb was not eating and was acting super sick the past week ever since we picked the boys up from Ben's parent's after our getaway for Labor Day. He is staying with Ben's parents while we build so I left as soon as I found out to go and see him with the boys. I had Ben on the Bluetooth in our car and had him say a prayer for our Caleb. I was so touched as he prayed for our dog and as I watched Jayden immediately fold his arms, close his eyes, and bow his head. Tristan watche...d his older brother for a moment before folding his arms, closing his eyes, and bowing his head. It was such a tender and precious moment. I told Jayden what happened and the importance of always doing what is right because you never know who is watching and will follow what you do. When we got to Ben's parents, they said Caleb's entire demeanor flipped a 180 as soon as we arrived, but we still took him to the vet the next day.

Heavenly Father was mindful of our family and our Caleb is doing much better. The vet loved Caleb almost as much as Caleb LOVED him. He was so impressed with Caleb and said he had such a great personality for a dog. He had a bad ear infection, but is on the mend and passed his exam with flying colors other than that! We are SO grateful!!!

2015: A WONDERFUL Year in Review!

2015 was absolutely wonderful!!! We enjoyed a bunch of fun adventures with just Jayden before the hightlight of the year-adding our sweet Tristan to our family! It has been such a joy watching our family grow and bond together this year. Ben and I are blessed with some pretty terrific boys! Ben and I have enjoyed some fun dates (for the first 5 months of the year-we really miss them these days, but the kiddos are worth every sacrifice) and a romantic getaway to Anniversary Inn, Ben FINALLY became a regular with the Post Office after working for them for 2 1/2 years and is making more than ever along with having more time of work than he ever has and is finally on board with the great insurance that comes with it so our next baby should hopefully be much cheaper. We have been SO blessed!!! We traveled more than we ever have (which was HUGE for me and my passion for new places and adventures) and enjoyed a FABULOUS trip to the Oregon Coast and to visit Ryan and Hilary at their new home of Grand Junction Colorado! And of course we enjoyed all of our usual family traditions for the seasons and holidays! A bittersweet goodbye to what has been one of the best years of our life, and a warm hello and welcome to 2016! Something tells me it is only going to get better and better from here!

Welcome December, Welcome Winter!

As I have said before, I really can’t choose a favorite season as I love parts about each and every one one of them for different reasons. So here is my tribute to Winter. What I love about winter is the opportunity to honor the birth of our Savior, all the time spent gathering as a family, the calm and cool snow outside that perfectly compliments the warm memories being made inside with friendly conversation over hot chocolate and homemade caramels. The music, the lights, the parties, the magic, the excitement, the charity, the happiness, and the enchantment all make this time of year so very special to me.

Hello September, Hello Fall!

I LOVE Fall!!! I would say it was my favorite season, but I love something about every season. I definitely love the cuddles, colors, clothes, cocoa, the calm and cool serenity, and of course the pumpkin spice everything that come with the Fall!

Tristan’s Nursery and Jayden’s New Big Boy Room!

Since I wanted to give each of our boys their own special and fun room (and wanted Jayden to keep as many of his own things and decorations as possible) and to give myself a bit of fun with new decorating, I did a sports and star theme with Tristan’s room. I used the exact same paint as I did with Jadyen’s crafts and decorations which is nice because when they share a room one day everything will match. I (of course) had to make Tristan a name sign just like I made for Jayden when I was pregnant with him, and got him his own shelf that I painted along with hanging theme-coordinated decor. I took the jungle-them craft pieces off of Jayden’s old lamp and mobile and replaced them with sports themed ones for Tristan. We got the wall decals from Wal-mart for $10, and I found the crib bedding for a steal of deal (75% off) on Amazon. I am SO happy with how it turned out! I hope Tristan loves it. :)

We wanted to make taking away Jayden’s things for baby Tristan as easy as possible, so we traded him for the items we needed for the nursery. We got him the Frozen poster to trade for the stars that hang on the wall, and got him the blue chair below to trade for the rocker glider we took from his room for the nursery. He was excited about them and it made the transition good for all of us. Jayden was so sweet and also gave two totes worth of baby toys and about 10 blankets he had grown to love to Tristan. He is such a good big brother already. We also got Tristan a few new things as well. We got a rock n’ play (which I hear are AWESOME and I am so excited about), and a swing since we borrowed one with Jayden that is no longer available. I got both for over 50% off and could not be happier about them. We also got Tristan a set of onesies (for fun since we have plenty of hand-me-downs from Jayden-SO nice about having another boy next), as well as a few new toys. We are all so very excited about our new little guy who will be here in just a few short months now. Eeek!

Jayden LOVES his new “big boy room”! My grandparents were so sweet and got us this bunk bed for Jayden so that Tristan would eventually have a bed of his own too. It is beautiful and we are so grateful to them for it! We let Jayden pick out his own bedding to make the process and change as exciting and special as possible for him. He chose a Captain America bed-naturally. It even glows in the dark. He LOVES his new bed!

Both of the boys rooms turned out great, and they only took me a couple of weeks with the shopping, crafting, painting, re-arranging furniture and organizing to complete. I got done a lot earlier than I was planning on, but I am SO happy about it. It is nice to know we were ready before I got too uncomfortable, and before Ben got super busy with adding school to his plate like we are now.

20 Weeks!

We have a confirmed little BOY on the way folks, and he is very proud of his little manhood. The best news? He is healthy and growing beautifully with no complications! YAY!!! There has been such a weight lifted off of my shoulders since finding that out. I have been one worried and anxious Momma. Not that I would change anything about our perfect little Jayden, but I am glad that our Tristan will have it a little bit easier. :) We cannot wait to meet you and hold you Tristan David Ostler!!! We LOVE you!!!!!
