This past fourth of July was SO much fun, and I took a bunch of pictures to prove it! Jayden being older, really got into all of the celebrating and fun! It was such a good day spent as a family with family!
Waiting while stuck in construction in the canyon. The house pictured behind the boys in the pictures below is the house my late Grandpa Ahlstrom grew up in.
It is usually FREEZING at night for our campout in Grandma’s backyard up in Huntsville, but not with the heat this past summer. It.was.scalding hot and made for a long and rough night. We literally let Jayden sleep in just his diaper, and we all skipped the jammies and slept on top of the blankets.
We would definitely be hitting up the lake that fourth of July!
Heading to the park for the Flag Ceremony.
GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.! Heaven knows we need it!
Grabbing brunch! We had Grandma’s famous scones earlier that morning. Nothing says “Happy Fourth of July” like good food!
Playing and chilling at Grandma’s before the parade!
Ready for the parade to start!
Jayden slept through the first bit of it (after the cannon and sirens, of course).
Our guy is a firm believer in kicking back, putting his feet up, and taking it easy. To further that endeavor, he even kicked the shoes off!
Dancing to the music during the parade.
After the parade, we hit up the carnival with my brothers.
Jayden was not sure what to think about his first cotton candy…
Thanks to Jayden, even Caleb got some party food. Gotta love those Cooler Ranch Doritos!
Heading to the Pineview Reservoir! Oh, and do you think that Caleb likes Lindsay ;) Almost as much as Jayden likes using Caleb’s massive head for a foot rest.
Some of the many faces of Jayden. LOVE this boy!!!
It was a nice little walk down to the lake. The best part about having connections to the locals? You skip the fee for the beach, avoid the crowds and you actually get to bring your dog to the more private access points . :)
Let me tell you, that water felt good!!!
Jayden LOVED splashing-especially other people! Even at the expense of slipping into the water in the process.
Caleb, on the other hand, was a LOT more apprehensive about the water…ha ha! He did warm up to it a bit by the end of the day.
Andrea appreciated a more mellow Caleb and actually pet him when she is usually too scared to.
We decided to head out right about the time these clouds began rolling in, and the loud booms of thunder started.
After the swim, the lack of sleep from the hot night in the tent, and all the fun of the day tuckered Jayden right out, but that did not stop him from getting excited about bubbles, cookies, and playing the second we got back to Grandma’s house. Boys will be boys!
Spending some quality time with Grandma.
Aren’t my parents and family the cutest?!
I just love our enthusiastic little adventurer!
The bat that lives in Grandma’s shed. He had a broken wing and fell out, so Ben tried to get him back to his home.
Derek was a big helper and watched Jayden while Ben and I packed up the car. He is quite the babysitter!
We have a Daddy that can juggle! Jayden was all claps and cheers for that Daddy of his.
These balls entertained Jayden for hours!
Getting all ready to go so we could enjoy the fireworks and not have to worry about packing up in the dark.
The branch that almost fell on Jayden from 25-30 feet up in one of Grandma’s trees right in front of us. I am so grateful he is okay. He was being watched over. It left me pretty emotional for the rest of the day.
Jayden sure loved the quality time with that busy Daddy of his.
Jayden also loved hanging out with his Aunt “Angia” (Andrea).
Dad working his magic on the grill! YUM!
What can he say? They ladies LOVE him! Even more than Uncle Brent and Aunt Gail’s snazzy new golf cart (this is what you drive around in a small town), that came in as a close second. They even let us take it for a little spin. It was the highlight of the day for our little guy-and that is saying something!
Not sure what all the puckering is about, but man is he still ever cute!
We hit up the dance in the park with Grandpa before the fireworks. We sure had a BLAST!
I may or may not have run through the sprinklers on the way back to watch the fireworks (I just can’t resist if there are sprinklers on), and after the fireworks, our little guy went right to sleep on Grandpa’s shoulder. The fireworks were AWESOME this past year with some really cool looking new ones! I would have gotten pictures, but Ben was consoling a nervous Caleb, while I plugged Jayden’s ears for him, and we were also dodging sparks since we were right by where they were lighting them. It sure was a FABULOUS Fourth of July!!!
